Choosing

Own it outright or managed care: which website model is right for you?

Two honest ways to own a website — pay once and hold the files, or a monthly care plan that runs it for you. How to choose.

Once you've decided to build a proper website, there's a second choice that matters more than most people realise: how you want to own and run it. There are two honest models, and the right one depends less on budget than on how you want to spend your time.

Own it outright

You pay the full build fee once, and the files are yours to host and maintain wherever you like. It suits businesses with their own technical person or agency, who want full control and no ongoing relationship. The trade-off: hosting, security, updates, search visibility and improvements all become your responsibility. A website isn't a painting you hang once — it's a garden that needs tending, and outright ownership means you tend it.

Managed care

You pay a one-off setup to build the site, then a monthly care plan under which we host it on your domain, keep it fast, secure and found, and improve it whenever you ask — with no change fees. It suits the many businesses who'd rather run their business than run a website. The trade-off is the monthly fee; the payoff is that the site stays live, current and improving without you thinking about it.

A simple way to decide

  • Do you have someone to host, secure, update and optimise the site? If yes, outright can work well.
  • Would you rather never think about hosting, security or updates again? Managed care is built for you.
  • Do you want the site to keep improving, not just exist? That's what a care plan is for.

Our default, and why

We lead with managed care because, honestly, it's what serves most businesses best — a site that's looked after and keeps getting better beats one that's perfect on launch day and neglected by month three. But owning outright is always available on request; it's your website, and we'll never trap you. Either way, your domain and your content are yours, and you can leave on 30 days' notice.

Common questions

Should I own my website outright or pay monthly?

Own it outright if you have someone to host, secure, update and optimise it and want full control. Choose managed care if you'd rather never think about hosting, security or updates — and want the site to keep improving rather than just exist.

What does a website care plan actually do?

It hosts your site on your own domain, keeps it fast, secure and backed up, maintains its search and AI-search visibility, and delivers improvements and changes whenever you ask — typically with no change fees and a 30-day cancellation.

If I pay monthly, do I still own my website?

Your domain and your content are always yours. On a care plan the site is run for you; you can also buy the files outright on request at any time, and cancel on 30 days' notice — no lock-in.
